CHRIS BLAIN<\/strong><\/h2>\n
INTERIM RESIDENT DISTRICT MANAGER<\/h5>\n

Chris grew up in the Virginia Beach area where he got his start as a line cook in fine dining which later prompted him to attend CIA. He first joined MG as a cook at the Virginia State Capitol and moved on to be our Retail & Sustainability Manager at Guilford College followed by Director at Beauvoir School, and finally General Manager at Virginia Theological Seminary. Between Guilford and Beauvoir, Chris had the opportunity to be the Executive Chef at the Virginia Governor\u2019s Mansion for Governor McAuliffe. Chris has a thirst for world travel and experiencing different cultures. He continually seeks to absorb new practices, principles, and languages (6 to be exact), and, of course, flavors, ingredients, and techniques.<\/p>\n

Henry Cabanillas is a seasoned hospitality professional and a proud Montgomery College and Towson State University alumnus. Henry\u2019s journey throughout the food service industry has awarded him many accolades, including being recognized as leading the Best Lounge in the U.S. at the Delta Sky Lounge. His career advanced with roles as a Dining Services General Manager in Government Services and later as an Area Director in Education segments for a national dining services company. Henry embraces Meriwether Godsey’s Core Value #10 – Learn, Grow, Improve, and is committed to consistency and quality. He empowers his teams with training and mentorship to execute confident services. Executive chef<\/h5>\n

Anthony brings a deep-rooted passion for food that began in Brooklyn, New York. Inspired by watching his grandmother bake and cook for their large family every weekend, his love for the culinary arts was sparked at a very early age. He fondly remembers the excitement of cooking as a child, eagerly peeling carrots down to nothing just to be involved in the kitchen. He embodies the MG Core Value \u201cBe Positive, Kind, and Gracious,\u201d always offering a warm greeting to those he meets because he believes even the smallest gestures can make a big impact on others. His goal is to make a lasting impact on the dining program at GDS, ensuring that every student, faculty, and staff enjoys every meal. Outside the kitchen, he enjoys comedy shows, concerts, movies, and cheering on the Yankees and 49ers.<\/p>\n

Richard Hetzler<\/strong><\/h2>\n
District Manager<\/h5>\n

Rich is a talented leader and culinarian who spent his early days working in various fine dining restaurants in the DC market, ultimately prompting him to launch his own restaurant Ovvia Osteria in Fairfax, Virginia. After that, he served in culinary leadership roles in education and cultural arts venues, including George Washington University, Georgetown University, National Museum of the American Indian, and Smithsonian Institute. In those roles, he had the opportunity to lead teams of 250-plus across multiple locations. Rich has a genuine passion for food, developing others, and delivering remarkable hospitality to clients. <\/span><\/p>\n

We take a holistic approach to being good stewards of our natural resources. Given that food services as an industry are notorious for waste, we start with a focus on not letting good food end up in the trash.\u00a0 From there, we incorporate other important strategies: buying local foods, composting, recycling, etc. Doing what we can to take better care of our planet is the right thing to do. We also provide programs and information in these areas as well as nutrition awareness. <\/span><\/p>\n
